Gesture Bending refers to the poetic transformation or enrichment of gestures through staged and unstaged technical mediation and specifically through the incorporation of responsive sound instruments/environments. A Gesture Bending event dynamically, autopoetically and spontaneously transforms the potential affective, emotional, and symbolic charge of a (non)human gesture in real-time. Gesture Benders synthesize conditions in which participants synergetically improvise with a unique and hybrid expressive force to create events and multidimensional compositions.
